About Brooking Bread

Why Brooking Bread Exists

Brooking Bread exists because what we eat matters.

After walking through a life-changing season of illness, I began rethinking everything — especially the ingredients I was feeding my family. That journey led me to freshly milled flour and a completely different understanding of what bread can be.

What's Different About the Flour

Most store-bought flour has been heavily processed — stripped of nutrients to extend shelf life and improve consistency.

Freshly milled flour is the opposite.

It's made by grinding whole wheat berries into flour on demand, preserving:

  • The bran
  • The germ
  • The natural nutrients and oils

This creates flour that is more nutrient-dense, more flavorful, and closer to its original form.

All grain used is sourced with care and not treated with glyphosate-based desiccants.

Why This Matters for Your Family

Many people today feel disconnected from their food — and the effects can show up in how we feel.

While everyone's body is different, many who struggle with conventional bread find they can better tolerate bread made from fresh-milled flour.

At the very least, you're getting:

  • Simpler ingredients
  • No unnecessary additives
  • Bread made fresh, not shelf-stabilized

From Flour to Bread

Brooking Bread started with flour.

I began milling and offering fresh flour to families who wanted better ingredients but didn't have a mill at home.

But I quickly realized something:

Not everyone has the time to bake from scratch.

So I stepped into something I never expected — baking the bread myself.

Every loaf is made in small batches, right here in my home kitchen, using freshly milled flour and ingredients you can recognize and trust.

A Slower, More Intentional Way

This isn't just about bread.

It's about returning to a slower, more thoughtful way of feeding our families — one rooted in care, simplicity, and purpose.
